Challenge
California ISO needed a PR tool that could convey a large amount of complex information, engage viewers from both internal and external audiences, and be delivered within a 35 minute media-rich presentation format suitable for both web and CD distribution.
Result
An effective and award winning PR tool that integrated a mix of broadcast voice talent, video of CEO and other key stakeholders, custom illustration, and Flash motion graphics.
Project highlights included finding and managing the recording of veteran voice talent that had the appropriate tone, shooting video and editing in interstitial videos of people managing the power grid, and most importantly the decision to forgo the standard stock photography-based "words and pictures" presentation. We created custom artwork and vector illustrations, allowing us to more accurately and cohesively illustrate the complex concepts and information in the presentation. The advantage of this was threefold:
- We were able to more effectively represent the concepts
- Saved California ISO time and expense by reducing the need to search for and purchase stock photography
- Drastically reduced the file size for the web deliverable without compromising the quality of the original CD presentation.

Blast Advanced Media was awarded a Silver Summit Award in the Interactive Media Category in the 2007 Summit International Awards for the MRTU Flash presentation developed for California ISO.
All entries to the Summit Creative Awards were reviewed and scored by a panel of sixteen judges representing many of today's top creative agencies worldwide. Submissions are evaluated based on the strength of their big idea, the quality of execution and their ability to persuade.
We are very pleased with the end product and very much appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout. I debuted the presentation internally last week to about 70+ employees and received really good comments and several requests for copies. My PR folks are so excited about it they want to coordinate a press release around the presentation's availability on the web.
